Happy Easter! Easter is so early this year and spring is so late that the only flowers blooming outside are the winter aconites and my Japanese witchazel (above). We have almost as much snow on the ground now as we did on Christmas. My ears are still thawing after walking the dogs this afternoon. It is below freezing. 

Many birds have already returned. Fortunately there are patches of open ground warmed by the sun—flocks of robins patrol them, poking, listening, poking again. Somehow they are finding goodies to keep them going until the weather breaks. On the bright side, I got to wear my new sweater again today at brunch. (-:
